| Recent Experience | Research particulars and Highlights from 2008 I have had the privilege to habituate 5 African Wild Dogs as well as their 11 puppies. Considering that the population consists of around 9% of the greater Kruger population (M. Venter,. EWT, 2008: Personal Communication) a very high amount of interest has been shown with regard to this particular animal population. Jo de Wilde (Head Guide, Tintswalo Safari Lodge 2007-2008) and I were fortunate enough to locate the very new den site, accurately estimate the birth date of the puppies, and privately habituate (along with our northern concession neighbour) these animals for 2.5 months before opening the den site up to the reserve. Identity photos of all adults were taken, along with their now 9 remaining puppies, and extensive daily data journals were written. All of this information was given to Mariana Venter of the Endangered Wildlife trust, who is currently conducting a census of African Wild Dog in the Greater Kruger Biosphere as well as in South Africa as a whole. I also arranged for Roger and Pat de la Harpe to come to the Manyeleti Game Reserve and photograph these animals for their new Coffee Table Book, Wild Dogs of South Africa, which will be published in July 2009. The pack has since moved out of the reserve, and so research has ceased. . Other projects and Habituation:
